Facebook messenger is now allowing you to begin a chat by scanning profile codes

Facebook has also launched messenger Links — short vanity URLs that lead to a user’s messenger profile, in the style of “m.me/username.”


The news was declared by both Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, who shared the messenger Code of his dog, Beast, likewise as messenger lead David Marcus.


If messenger Codes sound familiar, that is because Snapchat has had the same feature since January 2015, which is called Snapcodes. Pages also get messenger Greetings, short text messages that seem in a new message thread before any messages are sent. Greetings can be set and edited in a Page’s Message Settings.
